Attributed to the warlord Oda Nobunaga (1534-1582), this terrifying phrase sums up the ruthless Sengoku period of 16th century Japan. Daimyo, warlords, controlled the country and battled for supremacy with sometimes massive armies of samurai, ashigaru, and other retainers.
