All that remains of Old Harrow’s tall timber house are these blackened foundations. Harrow was a cooper by trade and a stubborn man by reputation. He refused to leave when the Old Quarter gates were first closed, though what became of him afterwards is a story no one in Tollingchester seems keen to finish.
