An inn situated on the road that split the battle lines of both French and Allied armies, the La Belle Alliance served as an ad-hoc field hospital throughout the day and in the aftermath of the Battle of Waterloo, 18th June 1815.

Prince Blücher and the Duke of Wellington met close to the inn following the battle, thus signifying both an end to the fighting and their victory.
