The Barons’ War Second Edition Starter Set
The rules, figures and playing aids together in one box.
Build two 500-point starter retinues or one 1,000-point retinue. The box contains:
- 54 plastic miniatures: 12 Foot Knights, 18 Foot Serjeants and 24 Peasant Levy.
- 56 round 25mm bases.
- The full Second Edition rulebook and Getting Started booklet.
- Plastic scenery pieces to build barricades or a medieval market.
- Fourteen ten-sided dice, ten custom Morale dice and one six-sided die.
- A double-sided token sheet for two players.
The Sarissa buildings and terrain deals above are sold separately. The plastic figures and scenery need assembly and painting.
The Starter Set already contains the core rules, bases and printed tokens. Extra rulebooks, MDF tokens and scenery are optional additions.

Which terrain deal should I start with?
A Baron Land brings together a church, farm buildings, wattle fences, an ox cart and a trebuchet with crew. The Dark Age Hamlet Bundle gives you a manor, two house/workshops, a farmstead, a cart barn and two cart kits. Choose the setting that suits your scenarios; both can be expanded with individual kits.
Does the Starter Set include the Sarissa buildings?
No. It includes plastic market or barricade scenery, the game’s rules, figures, bases, dice and printed tokens. The Sarissa terrain deals and castles on this page are separate products.
Are bases included with the figures?
The Starter Set, Retinue box and Militant Monks include bases. Check the individual troop box listings for their contents and base requirements.
Does King John replace the core rulebook?
No. King John is a physical hardback supplement for The Barons’ War Second Edition. You need the core rules, either from the Starter Set or the separately available rulebook.
