The murder of stage coach driver Johnny Slaughter* by bandits in 1877 inspired the Cheyenne and Black Hills Stage Company to build the first armoured stagecoaches. This particular version is inspired by the 1967 movie War Wagon, starring John Wayne and Kirk Douglas. *Yes, that was his actual name.
