With a name derived from the Old English word 'Lich', meaning 'corpse', a Lychgate is a roofed gateway found at the entrance to a traditional English churchyard. They were created as a place for funeral parties and pall-bearers to shelter from the elements and for the priest to receive the corpse. This particular example would be the perfect addition to both our English Village Church and Crypt and Graveyard Set.
