Geoff Lacey - The Creation of Brécourt Manor
Geoff Lacey from Purple Lion Creations, an exceptionally gifted artist, masterfully used our Normandy Manor kit to recreate the iconic Brécourt Manor from D-Day in WWII. This stunning piece was built for Duncan's Band of Brothers epic 16-by-4-foot wargaming table, which served as a fundraiser for Bear's Army and the National Kidney Federation. Showcased at Games Expo 2024 and the Overlord Museum in Normandy, this spectacular table was a sight to see!
We shipped Geoff our freshly flat-packed Normandy Manor kit, making it as challenging as possible with no instructions (it was a pre-test-cut kit after all ;) SC).
Over several months, Geoff transformed it into the stunning historic Brécourt Manor, just in time for the 80th Anniversary of D-Day. With meticulous care and exceptional craftsmanship, Geoff brought every detail to life, creating a breath-taking centrepiece for the game table, which also featured Sarissa Ville.
These are a few pictures of the numerous phases of the manor's construction, demonstrating how meticulously and patiently each step was thought through and carried out. From drawing every window and door and tracing each part on paper to adding extra layers of foam material to imitate the desired stone effect and make the structure look like the original, all the way to the final product.
It was a pleasure to work with Geoff (Purple Lion Creations), Duncan's Band of Brothers and Bear's Army. We look forward to seeing what they create next.
